See the world afresh through Digital Photography
Landscape Photography Workshops
Peak District Weekends
Taking digital photos is easy. But how often do you dare to turn off the Auto function on your camera? Together we can unlock the full potential of your creativity
I have been photographing weddings for 10 years, and for the last 5 year, teaching people like you how to take control of their camera, and achieve results they didn’t think they were capable of.
Lessons can be run as a 1 to 1 or a group session – you choose.
Chose from a 2.5 hour session in York, or a 4 hour masterclass, which includes an editing lesson.
Informal – inspiring – fun!
I run digital photography training workshops for complete beginners through to competent photographers.
Working in one of the UK’s most photogenic locations, I help you develop your natural photographer’s eye and discover your own unique style.
You will learn how to get the very best from your camera for shooting beautiful scenery, working with life models or simply capturing that special moment.
Isn’t it time to see your world differently?
Workshops and courses
A full range of digital photography lessons and workshops for small groups (no more than five to ensure everyone gets full attention) and as 1-to-1 sessions.
From intensive 90-minute tutorials to full-day excursions, I can tailor your training workshop to your needs and preferred location. Weekdays, evenings, weekends, in the city or out on location – whatever it takes to inspire your creativity!
Locations and venues
York is a fantastic place to learn more about you and your camera. With an expert guide at your side, you’ll discover all kinds of photo opportunities you’ve never even noticed before!
You don’t have to restrict yourself to the city either. Within an hour of York lie all kinds of fantastic photo locations, from the Dales and the Moors to beautiful houses like Castle Howard.
I am now offering a landscape photography lesson as the stunning Sutton Bank. This is a great location, with breathtaking views (and decent cafe!).
This is a 1.5 hour lessons, for yourself, and up to 2 friends if required, and costs £75. You are advised to wear suitable shoes, and there’s 2-3 miles of walking.
Are you a train enthusiast? Fantastic – why not request a workshop exclusively within the National Railway Museum? Contact me here for to find out more.
I also provide training in Cambridge and in Jersey. Contact me to find out more.
Perhaps you’ve been given an expensive camera and want to learn how to use it? Or maybe you simply want to master the camera on your smartphone? Either way, there is an ideal workshop or lesson for you.
Most people attend training with a Digital Single-Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera, but any camera with selective focusing and exposure controls is fine. I use a Sony Alpha 7 CSC camera rather than a DSLR.
If you don’t own one, you can borrow one of mine for the workshop (and I can give you some buying advice too) – just let me know when you book. If, however, you want to work with your camera phone, join me for a 90 minute Digital Photography Primer.

Wedding Photography Training
I also provide bespoke 1 to 1 training for budding wedding photographers, and those who have been asked to shoot a wedding. It’s not for the feint-hearted! Unlike most wedding photography courses, we don’t shoot models in a conveniently empty building. We cover the theory and technical skills you need, followed by shooting a real wedding, with everything it throws at you. Every wedding is different, and this is the only way to learn the the art.
2 hour beginner’s workshop £75
2.5 hour landscape course £95
2 hour night photography workshop £75
